Atticus DeForrest Hodges
DIRECTOR | WRITER | EDITOR
“A filmmaker has the responsibility to reflect the world back upon itself with honesty—to act as its conscience. My work creates indelible atmospheres that challenge audiences to reflect upon the cold, lonely void of the digital age and discover the quiet, flickering dignity of the human spirit that endures despite it.”

Beyond the Frame
Based in the Twin Cities, I specialize in layered, atmospheric narratives that tackle challenging subjects within the independent film landscape. My approach is defined by a distinct visual philosophy—utilizing intentional composition and high-contrast lighting to emphasize the internal conflicts of my characters.
My process is rooted in the discipline of constraint. By breaking down complex narratives to focus on singular, narrow moments—as seen in The Source of Light—I find that the most profound stories are often discovered in the quietest frames. This focus on intentionality is balanced by a background in creative leadership and high-volume production management, a foundation that demands a unique blend of versatility and technical efficiency.
Technically anchored in the DaVinci Resolve editorial workflow, I view post-production as the final stage of writing—where the rhythm of the edit meets the soul of the performance.
When the camera is off, Atticus lives in the Twin Cities, finding his own quiet moments as a student of the analog and a deeply entrenched cinephile. Whether volunteering with local youth or tending to a ten-gallon tank, he remains grounded in the steady connection of his family, friends, and community.
